Join in the fun of a competition! This is the time to show off your well earned skills.
We host competitions each year, everyone is welcome to enter a competition: 



Fleece, Skein, & Fiber Art
Competitions 
Youth Categories:  (under 18 years of age)
¨ Fiber Arts
¨ Skein
Adult Categories:  (18 years and older)
¨ Fleece Wool
¨ Fleece Exotic 
¨ Fiber Arts - 2 Divisions: Advanced & Beginner*
¨ Skein - 2 Divisions: Advanced & Beginner*
*Beginner = Less than 1 year experience
Ribbons and Premiums:
Each category and in each division:
1st place - $5.00
2nd place - $3.00

Grand Champion - $20.00 
One Grand Champion will be awarded in each of the following:
¨ Fleece Competition - Wool
¨ Fleece Competition - Exotic
¨ Adult Fiber Arts Competition (Beginner & Advanced combined)
¨ Adult Skein Competition (Beginner & Advanced combined)
¨ Youth Fiber Art & Skein (selected from pooling together all youth entries from both categories)
General Rules and Requirements:
¨ Competition entries will be accepted in Fitzpatrick Hall Thursday 4-7 P.M., Friday 1-4 P.M. and Saturday 9-11 A.M.
¨ Entry fee is $3.00 per item, skein, or fleece.  We accept cash or check.  Please make checks payable to:  
Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival, Inc.

¨ Judging will start Saturday at 12 P.M. in Fitzpatrick Hall, you may be present to view the judging.
¨ Pick Up:   Entrants in all competitions must pick up their items on Saturday between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M..  Any items not picked up will become the property of HHFF, Inc.  
¨ Every effort will be made to safeguard each entry; however, HHFF, Inc. assumes no responsibility for damaged, lost, or stolen entries.


Individual competition rules and requirements as follows:

Skein Competition
¨ All yarns must have been spun within the past 12 months.
¨ Skeins must weigh at least 1 oz. and be tied with 4 figure-8 ties.
¨ Fiber content must be included on entry tag.
¨ Skeins must not display labels, tags or any identifying markers other than the HHFF entry tag.

Fiber Arts Competition
¨ All fiber arts creations must have been completed within the past 12 months.
¨ Fiber content must be included on entry tag. 
¨ Techniques used must be listed on entry tag. 
¨ Exhibits must not display labels, tags or any identifying markers other than the HHFF entry tag.

Fleece Competition
¨ All fleece must be from the current, 2017, shearing season with no more than 14 months growth.
¨ The animal must be owned by the exhibitor.
¨ All fleece must be skirted and free of chaff, burrs, and second cuts.
¨ Fleece must be presented in clear plastic bags.
¨ Fleeces entered into the contest can also be sold through the HHFF Fleece Sale. 

Fiber Animal Photo Competition
Enter your best fiber animal photograph into our newest competition!  There are four categories to choose from, or enter them all!

Categories:
¨ “Nothing But Fluff” - baby fiber animal
¨ “Best Buddies” - children with fiber animal
¨ “Guide thy Flock” - shepherdess/shepherd with fiber animal
¨ “Wool on the Hoof” - scenic photo of a fiber animal in outdoor setting
Ribbons and Premiums:
Ribbons and premiums will be awarded in each category:
1st place - $5.00 2nd place - $3.00

Best of the Flock:  People’s Choice Award 
Viewers can vote once for one favorite from the four categories combined.  The photograph receiving the most votes will be given our Best of the Flock award and will earn a cash prize of $20.

Requirements for photographs:
¨ Photos must be sized 8” x 10”.
¨ Photos may be in color or black & white.
¨ Photos must fit the main theme of the category entered in.
¨ Each photo must be attached to a piece of BLACK poster board with a 1” border on all sides.  No tape, glue tabs, or photo corners can show.
¨ Amateur and professional photographers are both eligible.
¨ Vendors and patrons are both eligible.
